Machhapuchhre is among the most famous mountains of Nepal. This magnificent mountain lies in the Pokhara Valley, which is a major tourist destination itself. The mountain is ever full of trekkers from all around the world and even local Nepalis that come to take a glimpse of the spectacular fishtail up close. The trekking through the Machhapuchhre Base Camp features enchanting views of the mountain ranges surrounding the Pokhara valley and rich vegetation that allows diverse range of floral and faunal species to flourish. Apart from the natural gifts, it is blessed with cultural diversity that keeps you in awe.
Machhapuchhre Base Camp Trekking starts in Pokhara with a short drive crossing the Mardi River into the Mardi Valley in Rivan and Lahachok, which is famous for swimming, fishing and nature-watching. Along the trip, one can see many natural caves that are formed by the deposition of rock and limestone along thousands of years. A visit to the tea garden along the way is another spectacular sight to be held in this trip. It is by far, the most pleasurable resting place for tourists in the lap of Mother Nature. The dense forest that falls along the way also packs equal surprises and may be lucky ones can see rare species like the snow leopard there. The trip also allows trekkers to experience the eye catching views of the mountains like the Mt. Mardi, Mt. Machhapuchre, and Annapurna Himalayan ranges from the close proximity.
The cultural blend of the Machhapuchhre valley can be closely experienced in this trekking. Travelling through many villages with ethnic blends of different cultural groups like Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Damai, Chettri, Sarki, Kami, Newar, Brahmins, etc. With this many diversity in culture one can be sure to be captivated by the tradition and hospitality of the local people there.
And in the final note, the hot springs of the Machhapuchhre is one of a kind and definitely something to try out.
